    Nenets reindeer shepherds have been following the migration routes of the reindeer in the high north of Russia for centuries. In the Twenties of the last century, the first collective farms were founded by the Soviet regime. During the Fifties, many Nenets families were forced to live in villages in the context of a civilisation offensive. At this time, the Nenets territories are being threatened by climate change and by oil and gas exploitation.
